The StrokeAfrica Story

The story of StrokeAfrica began when founder Shiven Das noticed a problem. In low-resource areas, healthcare providers face a daily struggle: differentiating between ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes without the aid of brain imaging. Speaking with doctors across Sub-Saharan Africa, in low-resource settings where scanners are hours away or non-existent, he realized that this was preventable.

Built on the belief that context-specific data and localized education save lives, StrokeAfrica works hand-in-hand with African clinicians, researchers, and community leaders. By analyzing regional patient data, we create simple, practical solutions - from clear visual awareness posters in local healthcare centers to bedside clinical decision frameworks.

Today, our growing network spans 40+ hospitals across Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Malawi, and beyond. Together, we are building a sustainable movement dedicated to improving stroke survival rates, reducing long-term disability, and ensuring quality cardiovascular education reaches every community.
